On Sunday Shakespeare's Globe hosted a free family fun day to celebrate the Bard's birthday. The theatre has also this week opened its new-look foyer.
Hundreds of people queued along Bankside on Sunday for the chance to visit the replica playhouse for free.
Each year the Globe holds a free family open day on the Sunday nearest to Shakespeare's birthday which falls on St George's Day, 23 April.
The playhouse's summer season opens on Tuesday with The Tempest starring Roger Allam and Jessie Buckley.
On Thursday the Globe opened its new foyer on New Globe Walk.
Boarded up for building work since October, the foyer has been transformed under plans drawn up by local architects Allies and Morrison.
The expanded circulation space will soon accommodate audiences for the Globe's new indoor auditorium, the Sam Wanamaker Theatre as well as the open-air main house.
The revamped foyer features a new ground-floor coffee shop.
