A tree has been planted in memory of an academic killed whilst cycling in Bermondsey in 2010.
Professor David Vilaseca was killed on 9 February 2010 in a collision with a lorry whilst cycling at the corner of Druid Street and Tower Bridge Road.
He was professor of hispanic studies at Royal Holloway, University of London and on Monday friends and colleagues gathered to dedicate a medlar tree in his memory at the college's Egham campus.
A David Vilaseca Memorial Lecture is held each year at Royal Holloway.
Prof Vilaseca was a specialist modern Spanish and Catalan literature and queer theory.
