The owners of the Everyman Cinemas chain have confirmed they plan to open a new venue in 2020 as part of the redevelopment of the former Vinopolis complex.
Plans for a two-screen cinema formed part of the shopping-led redevelopment scheme approved by Southwark councillors a year ago.
Last month Everyman Media submitted a licensing application to Southwark Council identifying themselves as the prospective operators of the new venue.
This week, in a trading update to the London Stock Exchange, the company confirmed that it has exchanged contracts for the new cinema and revealed a projected opening date of 2020.
Everyman currently has 21 cinemas and has plans to open a further nine.
