The flags outside the Financial Times's headquarters at Southwark Bridge were flown at half-mast on Friday after the death of journalist Paul McClean during a holiday in Sri Lanka.
According to the FT, McClean's body has been identified by friends with whom he was travelling and officials who have spoken to them said he is believed to have been attacked by a crocodile. The final cause of death has yet to be established.
"Paul McClean was an outstanding young journalist with a great future at the FT," said editor Lionel Barber. "We will miss him sorely."
