A screen displaying a live count of cyclists user the segregated path on Blackfriars Road has recorded more than 80,000 journeys in just over four weeks.
We first reported on plans for a cycle counter on superhighway 6 more than a year ago when the idea was raised by Green Party London Assembly member Caroline Russell.
The screen was finally installed outside Christ Church Southwark in Blackfriars Road and started counting journeys on Monday 19 February.
The LED screen alternates between a daily and annual running total of bicycles which have passed the monitoring equipment.
This week, on Tuesday 20 March, the counter reached 80,000.
The total is likely to be lower than usual due to the snowy and icy conditions in recent weeks.
This Saturday will mark the second anniversary of the opening of the bike track on the northern part of Blackfriars Road.
