St John Ambulance seeks youth and adult volunteer first aiders

New volunteers at the adult unit will receive free training in life saving skills, enabling them to provide first aid cover at public events in the local area and across the capital. The training will also give them the confidence to do the right thing should there be a medical emergency in their local community. No previous experience is required as full training is provided.

St John Ambulance cadets offers teens and young people the chance to take part in volunteer work and learn valuable life skills, including leadership, public speaking and first aid. Cadets take part in a full and interactive programme working towards the Grand Prior Award and have the opportunity to volunteer at events, such as music festivals, football matches and the London Marathon.

Both groups meet for around an hour and a half on a Thursday evening at the London Bridge training venue on Borough High Street.

Area manager Paul Zhar said: "We hope there are many people living and working in and around the area who would be interested in learning to save lives and to volunteer with St John Ambulance.

"Of course, those first aid skills aren't just used when the volunteers are at events. Learning first aid means they're equipped to help family and friends at home, work, or anywhere else that an emergency happens.

"They can be the difference between a life lost and a life saved."
