Bus services on route RV1, which runs close to the SE1 riverside from Waterloo Bridge to Tower Bridge, could be severely disrupted by strike action this Friday.
The strike action has been suspended as a result of talks at ACAS.
First employees, including bus drivers, may be holding a 24-hour strike beginning on Friday 7 December.
Talks are ongoing between First and the Unite and TSSA trades unions – and a last-minute pay settlement could avoid industrial action.
First operates 95 bus routes across London, including the RV1, and Transport for London is warning bus passengers of the potential disruption.
"TfL is working to keep passenger disruption to a minimum, and we would ask that passengers check their route and listen to media travel updates before they travel on Friday," says a TfL spokesman.
"Where possible, we would advise passengers to use alternative means of transport."
If the row is not resolved strikes could also take place on 8, 14, 15, 16, 24 and 25 December.
Route 381, which is operated by Travel London, provides an alternative for many RV1 journeys.
