A Royal Marine descended from a Sea King helicopter carrying the flame in a lantern before it was taken to the Tower of London for overnight secure storage.

Between now and the Olympic opening ceremony the flame will visit every London borough.

The Olympic torch relay comes to Southwark on Thursday morning and the flame will again be seen on the Thames next Friday when it will be brought to Tower Bridge and City Hall.
