The bus was launched by Matthew Pencharz, deputy mayor for the environment and energy, in Weaver's Lane next to City Hall.

The new vehicle has been built by Chinese manufacturers BYD and is due to go into service next month.

The new double-deck bus will start operating on route 98 between Willesden and Holborn.

SE1 currently has a handful of electric buses on routes 507 and 521 and the those two routes are due to go all-electric this autumn.
