Last month we reported on Tom Copley AM's call for the mayor to adopt a cat from Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.

Sadiq Khan's response has now been published, and he fails to give a direct answer to Mr Copley's suggestion.

"I agree that the mice have been causing a nuisance in City Hall," said Sadiq Khan.

"However, I am informed by City Hall's facilities management (FM) team that the mouse problem is now improving, with a 50 per cent reduction in sightings reported in the last quarter thanks to an enhanced and rigorous pest control regime.

"I have asked FM to provide you with a more detailed briefing on the measures they are taking to address the problem."
