New Post Office branch opening at Elephant & Castle
People living and working near the Elephant & Castle will have easy access to Post Office services when a Post Office counter opens in a convenience store in New Kent Road next month.
The Post Office – a single counter – will open at the Select & Save store in New Kent Road from midday on Wednesday 1 August.
Select & Save is located on the north side of New Kent Road, opposite the Sainsbury's supermarket.
The launch of the new service comes 12 years after the closure of the Post Office further east along New Kent Road and 16 years after the closure of the Crown Post Office at Newington Butts.
Post Office Ltd announced in January that it planned to open around 25 branches in Central London this year.
In March, SE1 gained a new Post Office when a counter was installed at Ronnie's Supermarket in Tanner Street.
Post Office Ltd is currently advertising for a franchisee in the Union Street area of Bankside.
Details of a replacement for the Great Dover Street Post Office – which closed last December – have yet to be confirmed.
