Three of the pedestrian subways at Elephant & Castle northern roundabout closed to the public this week as work continues on the transformation of the road layout.
One subway has already been filled in, and now the underpasses below St George's Road, London Road and Newington Causeway have also been shut to pedestrians.
Three subways – below New Kent Road, Elephant & Castle link road and between the shopping centre and the roundabout – remain open for the time being.
Fences have been put up around the roundabout to discourage pedestrians from crossing the road at ground level.
New surface-level pedestrian crossings will not open until early 2016.
The new two-way traffic layout to replace the gyratory system is due to be introduced in December this year.
