Lewisham Southwark College has celebrated the topping-out ceremony of its new building in The Cut.
The further education college's £40 million project includes science laboratories, fashion studios, sprung dance floors, and the latest business and computing technology.
"The ceremony marked an important point in the development of our award-winning campus in the heart of South London," said principal Carole Kitching.
"Students, employers and industry came together as Balfour Beatty's guests to get a flavour of the additional training opportunities that will be available to young people and adults from summer 2016."
The new college building has been part-funded by the £14.5 million sale of part of the campus on Ufford Street.
The former college land is to be developed for 62 homes under the name SciEntia.1 – see planning application 15/AP/3024.
In a sign that previously tense relationships between the college and Southwark Council are improving, leader Cllr Peter John recently toured the Waterloo site with Ms Kitching.
