After dozens of local residents and businesses reported problems with Royal Mail deliveries in the run-up to Christmas, Bermondsey & Old Southwark MP Neil Coyle has launched a survey to gauge the scale of the problem.
In December we reported that Royal Mail blamed roadworks and staff sickness for a spate of missed and delayed deliveries in Southwark.
"Royal Mail have let down local residents and businesses every Christmas I can remember," said Neil Coyle MP
"It's a seasonal problem, not the fault of staff but of poor planning and too many part-time workers.
"I've heard from businesses losing revenue and people not receiving Christmas cards and presents for loved ones.
"I'm coordinating replies and will take concerns to Royal Mail.
"Please do let me know if you've been affected."
• Take the survey on the Bermondsey & Old Southwark Labour website.
• Trade union officials from the CWU recently warned that Royal Mail plans to shut the SE17 delivery office in Crampton Street and combine the service with the SE1 and SE16 office in Mandela Way.
